Opening & Early Days
A few weeks ago, we shared a milestone from my personal journey. 1,000 days sober. At first, it felt personal. But after reflecting, I realized that milestone is deeply connected to why Market Your Health started in early 2020, and why it’s still growing today.
I grew up in a small town, in a household where alcohol was a constant point of tension. Later, in marketing, I was introduced to the “free beer fridge” perk, open-bar off-sites, and an industry culture that celebrated late nights and fast living. What began as celebration quickly became expectation.
In January 2020, early in my sobriety, social media was full of friends at bars, events, bachelor parties, spaces I no longer felt part of. I thought that I couldn’t be the only one feeling that way, so I created an Instagram page encouraging people to “market” their healthy habits. That page was called Market Your Health.

Over the next few months, I talked to others in the industry about sobriety and MYH grew into small alcohol-free meetups, walks, and conversations without the pressure to drink or “perform.” People came for genuine connection. They stayed because they found belonging.
A Turning Point
In April 2020, at 213 days sober, I published a LinkedIn article ending with: “If you can relate, I’m one click away.”

While MYH had already begun, that post sparked hundreds of conversations with professionals quietly navigating the same pressures.
The Pause
Later in 2020, I began slipping back into old habits and decided to pause MYH to focus on healing. What I thought would be a few weeks turned into two years away from all social media, stepping away from group chats and networks, not attending events, and turning inward through self-discovery. That time included three months at a mental health retreat in Barbados, daily meditation, building new healthy routines, and bringing more nature into my life, including raising over 80 plants. Those lessons now guide how MYH operates: with intention, balance, and care for the people behind the community.
The Return & Growth

When MYH returned, it came back stronger. Together, we’ve:
Supported 150+ people through 4 mentorship cohorts (next starts in September)
Hosted 30+ healthy, alcohol-free events
Grown to 1,800+ LinkedIn members
We’ve met in parks, coffee shops, cycling paths, and even a horse farm. We’ve run together at Downsview Parkrun, camped under the stars, skating and tobogganing for dozens of first timers, and even welcomed members’ kids and four-legged kids into the meetups :)
Our Pillars Today
Everything we do is guided through five pillars:
A Kind, Welcoming Community
Meaningful Mentorship
Your Story, Your Voice
Healthy Careers, Healthy Lives

Gratitude
From the earliest volunteers to the newest members, every coffee shared, every walk taken, and every story told has built this movement. Thank you, truly. It has been such a wonderful journey with all of you <3
